Panathinaikos are in poor momentum. Results in recent weeks have been disappointing, and the overall situation inside the club is far from ideal.

After the loss to their biggest rival Olympiacos, a lot of negative news surfaced, including strong public criticism from the clubs eccentric president, who had many objections to the teams performances.

The expectation was that the team would react and show greater effort and a higher level of play in the next game against Milano, but the opposite happened. Panathinaikos suffered a second consecutive home defeat, as the Italian side claimed a convincing 87:74 win, handing the Greens their eighth loss of the season.

However, the hosts suffered an inexplicable collapse in the second half, which their opponents took full advantage of, winning that period by a dominant 49:31 margin.

Head coach Ataman watched helplessly from the sidelines as his teams game fell apart, with none of his adjustments bringing any improvement.

There were major problems in the paint, which Josh Nebo exploited for a series of easy baskets, while Armoni Brooks once again produced a strong performance against the same opponent, finishing as the games top scorer with 24 points.

Virtus Bologna continue to show consistency in the EuroLeague. At the halfway point of the season, they hold a balanced 10:10 record and sit just outside the play in zone, while home games in Bologna remain among the toughest in the competition.

On Tuesday, Zalgiris felt that challenge, as they were beaten 83:79 at the Segafredo Arena.

After missing two games through injury, Carsen Edwards returned to the lineup. Although far from his best form, his presence gave Virtus another offensive option and demanded full defensive attention from the opposition.

Virtus controlled the score for three quarters and held a steady lead, but experienced a drop in performance in the final period, which allowed the visitors to tie the game with three minutes remaining.

That was when Derick Alston Jr and Luca Vildoza stepped up, scoring key baskets to halt the comeback and secure a very important win ahead of the trip to Athens.

Derick Alston Jr was the leading scorer for Virtus with 20 points, while Matt Morgan also impressed with 15 points and 4 assists.

Both coaches like to give their guards a lot of freedom, so the backcourt matchups should be very interesting in this game. A major issue for Virtus is the absence of Luca Vildoza, who has been in excellent form recently.

In addition, Virtus have been far more effective at home than on the road this season, which I expect Panathinaikos to exploit, despite their current struggles.
