The Tasmania JackJumpers are on the verge of an unprecedented feat in NBL25 - a season sweep of the Sydney Kings. Tasmania has claimed three consecutive victories over the Kings, which included two substantial margins. Known for their solid defense and precise 3-point shooting, the JackJumpers have been particularly dominant in the first and fourth quarters of previous matchups. The Kings, on the other hand, have struggled to capitalize on their bench strength. As they face off in this conclusive regular season game, the JackJumpers are again favored to win, especially with Sydney reportedly missing key players. Recommended bets include backing Tasmania on the moneyline and Sydney falling under an 88.5 point team total.

Sydney Kings vs Tasmania JackJumpers NBL25 Round 18 Expert Tips

Tasmania have never swept a season series against the Kings but are on the verge of doing so with 3 straight in the bag and the slight edge on the court ahead of this 4th and final regular season matchup.

Two of the Tassie wins against Sydney earlier this season have been blowouts, 16 pts in the first game and 23 pts in the most recent. The funny thing is Tasmania don’t blow out opponents, their average winning margin this season is only 9.2 pts compared to Sydney’s 20.7 pts. The second of the matchups was a 90-89 win for the Jackies but there are definite trends across the three games that give us insight as to how this one will play out.

Tasmania have been strong in the first and fourth quarters in all three of their games vs Sydney. In the blowout wins they were efficient from 3pt range hitting above 32% with Sydney shooting just 23% from distance. They also kept Sydney under their season average of FGA while almost practically eliminating the threats of Xavier Cooks and Matthew Dellavadova who both look likely to miss this matchup.

Sydney’s strength in the prior matchups has been their bench, outsourcing Tasmania in 2 of the 3 games. But despite even 50 pts from the 2nd unit in the most recent outing, they still couldn’t win.

The game script is expected to largely look the same, Tasmania to lock down the perimeter, forcing Sydney into bad shots and keeping them in half court offence, not racing down the hardwood. Expect a close finish but Tasmania to once again come out on top.

Take Tasmania on the moneyline, Sydney to go Under their team total of 88.5 and Tyger Campbell to have 5+ assists.

  • Tasmania have won 3 straight against Sydney, 2 of them by 16+ pts. All three games they have come in as underdogs.
  • Only once in their last 6 matchups have Sydney surpassed 88 pts, including in 3 of their wins.
  • Tasmania have held opponents to just 79.5 pts per game over their last 4 matches.
  • Tyger Campbell has averaged 5.3 assists this season vs Sydney.

Sydney Kings Form & Team News

Sydney took their 3rd straight win last week, beating the Brisbane Bullets at Hoops Fest 95-80. The win keeps the Kings in 3rd spot on the ladder behind Adelaide and SEM and keeps them 4.5 games ahead of the JackJumpers in 6th spot.

Kouat Noi led all scorers with 24 pts and 10 reb off the bench in 28 minutes of play. 4 of the 5 Sydney starters scored double digits in a game that they dominated from start to finish.

The Kings rank 2nd in scoring on the season with an average of 95.4 pts per game with the league’s best FG% at 46.9%. Defensively they also sit 2nd in opposition points, allowing just 85.8 pts per game to their opponents and restricting them to the lowest FG%.

There is still no news on when Matthew Dellavedova or Xavier Cooks will return to play.

Tasmania JackJumpers Form & Team News

Tasmania’s 2 game win streak was broken at Hoops Fest as they went down 79-77 against Melbourne United. The game was a proper United v Tassie grind with all 4 quarters finishing with 2 pts or less difference between the teams.

The Jackies were successful at scoring down low but struggled on the perimeter, knocking down just 5 of 25 attempts from 3pt range. The other major difference was the bench scoring that Tasmania lost 35-13.

Tassie are the number 1 ranked scoring defence this season and play with the slowest pace in the NBL. That contributes to their 8th ranking in scoring, putting up an average of 85.2 pts per game. Despite having the lowest scoring defence, their opponents still have a high success rate from beyond the arc at 32.6% which ranks them 6th in the league.

Will Magnay is now out for the season after suffering an injury.
