Real Madrid have significantly raised their form and overall quality of play in recent weeks. There is no doubt that Los Blancos will play an important role in the final stretch of the EuroLeague season.

With four straight wins, Real Madrid have climbed to fifth place in the standings and are now just one win behind the league leaders.

Last week, Madrid got revenge on their biggest rivals Barcelona for a domestic league loss suffered a week earlier. Coach Scariolo’s team was dominant on home court, winning 80:61.

It was arguably the best defensive performance of the season for Real Madrid. They shut down all paths to the basket and allowed a high-quality Barcelona team to score only 61 points.

Madrid played outstanding defense against Barca’s backcourt players and completely disrupted their cooperation with the big men in the paint.

Much-criticized Usman Garuba shined, scoring 16 points in just 16 minutes on the floor while providing a huge defensive impact. Gabriel Deck and Mario Hezonja also reached double figures with 12 points each, while Edy Tavares finished the game with 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Another EuroLeague season for Milano in which they struggle to find consistency and fully join the race for the top of the standings. Injuries have once again affected the team, although not to the same extent as in previous seasons.

At the moment, Milano sit in 11th place with an even 11:11 record. Last week they missed a good opportunity to secure a win and move closer to the upper half of the table.

They suffered an incredible home loss to Crvena Zvezda. For three quarters, Milano were the better team, controlling both the game and the score, but experienced an inexplicable collapse in the fourth quarter.

The visitors began scoring from all positions and punished every defensive mistake, while Milano sank deeper and started making rushed decisions.

Milano lost the final quarter by a staggering 34:14, throwing away an excellent chance to win and close the gap to the play-in zone.

Shavon Shields finished with 22 points, but his fifth personal foul with four minutes remaining may have been the turning point of the game.

Leandro Bolmaro, Armoni Brooks, Josh Nebo, and Marko Guduric also reached double figures, scoring between 10 and 13 points each.

There is no doubt that Real Madrid are the clear favorites due to their current form and home-court advantage, but I expect the visitors to put up a strong fight.

Milano certainly have enough offensive firepower to challenge the hosts, and if they find their rhythm on offense, this could be a very high-scoring and entertaining game.
