FIFAe World Cup 2022 Format - How the 2022 World Cup works

Below is a screenshot of the players and their teams, with the likes of England, Brazil, Portugal, Argentina and Germany all boasting players at the event. 

Top players from the regional rankings or league partners progressed to the playoffs, with all of the hopefuls cut down to just 32 players that will battle it out in Copenhagen. 

The Grand Finals sees players split into four groups, with two for each console, meaning there are two Xbox One groups and two PS4 groups. 

The top 16 players move into the next round, with the Round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals all use to whittle the competition down to the final two. The group-stage matches all the way to the semi-finals are played on one console. This means that matches are one-legged affairs where the two players must play on Xbox or PS4.

The final is a two-legged battle in which players battle in one game on Xbox and one game on PS4. This is designed to ensure that when the best PS4 and Xbox players come together, one does not have a distinct advantage through the fact one will be playing on their 'home' console in a one-off game. 

The competition is only played across a three day period between July 14-17, with the winner crowned in a live event at the end of the World Cup. There is a prize pool of $500,000, with the winner receiving the biggest share of this massive pot. 

The competition will be streamed live on Twitch and Facebook from the FIFAe channels on both respective streaming sites.
