Bayern and Crvena Zvezda both seek their first Euroleague win of the season after suffering defeats in their opening matches. Bayern aims to leverage home court advantage and their high-tempo style, despite some key offseason departures and roster injuries. Crvena Zvezda, dealing with significant injuries and squad transition, will rely on a disciplined defensive approach under coach Sfairopoulos. Despite the Serbian side’s resilience, Bayern's deeper roster and strong home record make them clear favorites for a moderate-margin victory.

Bayern Form & Team News

Last season Bayern played one of the fastest and most dynamic styles in the Euroleague, which was enough to secure a Play-In spot but not qualification for the playoffs. The ambition remains to reach the upper half of the standings, but the squad has undergone significant changes.

The Bavarians lost some of their most important players during the summer. Nick Weiler-Babb moved to Efes, Devin Booker signed with Milano, while Carsen Edwards joined Virtus Bologna. These departures left noticeable gaps, especially in the offensive structure.

Head coach Gordon Herbert now relies on a mix of new signings and existing leaders. Xavier Rathan-Mayes has already shown flashes of being the main offensive weapon, recording 18 points and 8 assists in the opener against Panathinaikos. Veterans like Vladimir Lucic and Andreas Obst will be essential in keeping the balance.

In terms of roster depth, Bayern still looks slightly weaker compared to last season. The absence of Rokas Jokubaitis, who suffered a long-term knee injury at EuroBasket, further limits Herbert’s rotation options. Consistency and defensive discipline will be key if Bayern want to fight for a playoff place.

On home court, Bayern traditionally performs well and has won three of the last five meetings with Crvena Zvezda. With their high tempo and the support of fans in Munich, they will be looking to bounce back from the opening-round defeat.

Crvena Zvezda Form & Team News

Crvena Zvezda opened their Euroleague campaign with a tough home defeat against Olimpia Milano 92-82, where defensive lapses in the final quarter proved costly. The team is still in transition, with a lot of new players arrived.

The Serbian champion faced several roster problems early in the season. Devonte Graham, Joel Bolomboy, and Isaiah Canaan are all sidelined. The latest injury is center Rivero, who broke a metatarsal bone and will be out for at least three months.

Under Sfairopoulos, the focus will be on tightening the defense and reducing turnovers, areas that cost them dearly against Milano. The Greek coach is known for building disciplined and tactically sound squads, which could stabilize Zvezda’s form in the coming rounds.

Historically, Zvezda has managed two wins in their last five clashes with Bayern, which gives them some confidence. However, considering the injuries and away setting, the Belgrade side enters this matchup as the underdog, hoping for a disciplined performance to steal a win in Munich.

Verdict

Bayern are the favorites on their home court and are expected to capitalize on their roster depth and crowd support.

Crvena Zvezda, dealing with injuries and transition with new players, are unlikely to spring a surprise, making a Bayern win with a moderate number of points the most realistic outcome.
