Warwoven (barrier 6) was an impressive debut winner at Randwick on December 20 before backing that up with another comfortable victory when stepping to 1200m at Eagle Farm.

That January 3 success in Brisbane has seen the Bjorn Baker-trained colt firm again as the outright favourite for the 2026 edition of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, with Baker chasing back-to-back wins in the feature after training O’ Ole to victory in 2025.

Gai Waterhouse has prepared five winners of the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, with her first in partnership with Adrian Bott coming in 2024 when Storm Boy scored a dominant 2.5-length victory.

The Waterhouse & Bott stable is represented this year by Knightsbridge (barrier 8), Shiki (barrier 10), Lumbini (barrier 16) and By Choice (barrier 4).

Shiki was the most favoured of that quartet in early markets, with the filly having captured the Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes on debut before resuming with a fourth behind Warwoven, and she bounced back with a strong performance at the Gold Coast last Saturday.

Tornado Valley (barrier 5) built on a debut third by winning the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate at Flemington, and on his summer return the Ciaron Maher-trained colt finished runner-up in the B.J. McLachlan Stakes, which was won by Zip Lock (barrier 3).

Ciaron Maher also has Unit Five (barrier 9), a 2.5-length debut winner of the Magic Millions VIC 2YO Classic who subsequently won a Gold Coast trial on January 5.

Leading Queensland trainer Tony Gollan is represented by Itchintogo (barrier 11), a gelding who won starts two and three after making his debut with a second placing behind Zip Lock.
