On Saturday, May 30, 2026, the Brisbane Winter Carnival shifts to Eagle Farm, where the Queensland Derby and Kingsford-Smith Cup headline a feature program featuring two Group 1 contests.

Jimmysstar (barrier 15) shapes as one of the leading hopes for the Kingsford-Smith Cup after claiming three Group 1 victories in 2025, including two at weight-for-age level.

The Ciaron Maher-trained galloper is yet to produce his best form this campaign; however, each of his three runs since a disappointing return in the William Reid Stakes has carried merit.

That includes a third-place finish in the All Aged Stakes, where he was disadvantaged by the track pattern, while his fourth in the Doomben 10,000 was also respectable despite racing as a well-supported favourite.

Fangirl (barrier 16) was another runner unsuited by the track pattern when resuming in the All Aged Stakes, although the performance still had merit, and the classy mare has since trialled at Rosehill ahead of her Queensland campaign.

The seven-year-old has recorded nine stakes victories during her career, including four at Group 1 level, and connections will be hoping for suitable ground conditions throughout the winter carnival.

King Of Roseau (barrier 21) completed a hat-trick at Gosford when successful in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes, arriving there fresh after a Group 3 victory over the same distance in February.

His preparation has been carefully managed throughout the year following the gelding’s Magic Millions triumph back in January.

Private Eye (barrier 2) was scratched from the Doomben 10,000 due to the Heavy conditions, while Splash Back (barrier 10) enters calculations after her Group 2 Victory Stakes triumph on May 2, having produced that performance off a luckless first-up run at Randwick.

Rothfire (barrier 8) arrives off an upset victory in the Doomben 10,000, while Group 1 weight-for-age winner Another Wil (barrier 11) will be looking to improve after finishing ninth first-up in the May 16 feature.

Last year’s Toorak Handicap winner Transatlantic (barrier 5) returned soundly in the Victory Stakes and boasts three wins and a runner-up finish from five second-up appearances.
