The Western Syndey International Airport, also known as Badgery's Creek Airport, is a brand-new airport that is currently under construction in New South Wales.
With the airport still under construction, you can bet on the date it will be opened, with the year 2026 the current favourite at $1.90 with bookmaker PalmerBet.
Year | Odds |
---|---|
2026 | $1.90 |
2027 | $2.75 |
2025 | $4.00 |
2028 | $5.50 |
2024 | $10.00 |
2029 | $13.00 |
2030 or later | $15.00 |
The airport is planned to have a 24-hour and curfew free operations and will be able to supplement Kingsford Smith Airport.
Construction began back in 2018, with the expected date of completion in 2026. However, this date is clearly not set in stone, with PalmerBet offering odds on a range of options.
The site itself was designated by the Federal Government back in April 2014 and, after decades of debate, it was decided where the airport would be built within Greater Sydney.
In 2019, the federal government announced that the airport would be called the Nancy Bird Walton International Airport. This name is in honour of the Australian aviator Nancy Bird Walton. While the airport itself is not yet open, a light aircraft made an emergency landing in December 2020 as it landed on earthworks, with this the airport's first-ever arrival.
