Partizan find themselves in a very specific and delicate moment. As expected, the fans did not react well to the departure of Zeljko Obradovic, and that tension transferred to the stands.

In their first game without Obradovic, with assistant coach Mirko Ocokoljic on the bench, Partizan defeated Bayern in the Belgrade Arena 92:85.

The match was played in an unbelievable atmosphere, where fans spent the entire game chanting their former coach’s name and often booing certain players they consider responsible for his departure.

Despite the toxic environment, most of Partizan’s players delivered a strong performance and deservedly earned their 5th win of the season.

The most efficient player was Duane Washington, who scored 22 points in just 18 minutes, while Tyrique Jones delivered a powerful double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Isaac Bonga added 10 points, and Greek veteran Nick Calathes had a solid all-around performance with 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Partizan are actively searching for a new head coach. The main candidate is former Barcelona coach Joan Peñarroya, though nothing has been confirmed yet. For now, Ocokoljic has the trust of the club and will lead the team in the first Eternal Derby of the season.

Crvena Zvezda Form & Team News

Last week, Crvena Zvezda suffered their first home loss since coach Sasa Obradovic took over, after six straight wins. Barcelona defeated them 89:79, continuing their successful run of away games in Belgrade.

Zvezda did not play a bad game overall, but they faced a highly prepared and motivated opponent who responded to every attempt from the hosts to shift momentum.

The main reason for Zvezda’s loss was their dreadful three-point shooting - just 4 makes on 24 attempts, which clearly explains the outcome.

Codi Miller-McIntyre once again led the team with 19 points and 5 assists, Chima Moneke added 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Jordan Nwora scored 12. Jared Butler struggled, scoring only 4 points, as he continues adjusting to the European game following his move from the NBA.

Zvezda’s season has been plagued by injuries, and ahead of the derby they are once again dealing with issues surrounding Chima Moneke and Devonte Graham.

However, according to the latest reports, both should be available, along with Ebuka Izundu, who has been out for a month.

This will be the 7th Eternal Derby in EuroLeague history. The all-time record is tied 3-3, and Crvena Zvezda won the last meeting 73:71.

Verdict

Partizan v Crvena Zvezda

It will be interesting to see how both teams respond to their current circumstances. Partizan have shown in recent games against Bayern and Cluj that they still have plenty of offensive talent - it just needed unlocking.

Zvezda, on the other hand, have multiple ways to win games: through tough team defense, or through explosive offensive performances like those seen against Monaco and Olympiacos.

I expect a high-quality and intense derby, where small details and individual offensive inspiration will likely decide the winner.
