Australian Boomers vs Philippines FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifier Tips - Aussies make no mistake against the Philippines

The Australian Boomers are expected to win against the Philippines in their FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifier match in Manila, maintaining their undefeated record. They've shown formidable prowess in recent games, including a win over Guam, and are bolstered by the addition of Mitch Creek. The Philippines are under pressure to win to hold onto second place, but face difficulties, especially in perimeter shooting. With Australia averaging 85.3 points per game and key players like Nick Kay performing well, the Boomers are predicted to dominate the game.

Australian Boomers vs Philippines FIBA Asia Cup 2025 Qualifier Tips

Australia will take care of business in their clash with the Philippines in Manila on Sunday night, staying undefeated after already booking their place in the Second Round of World Cup qualifying.

The Boomers took care of business against Guam after a rocky start to the match, ensuring that they will progress to the Second Round of qualifying with 3 victories from 3 matches.

The Philippines also put a scare on the Tall Blacks but fell agonisingly short and will need a win against Australia to hold onto second place in the group with New Zealand expected to get the job done against Guam.

Mitch Creek is expected to make an appearance for the Boomers in the match and will likely play a central role in the offence after being rested in Australia’s opening match. I wouldn’t expect to see as much of Elijah Pepper and Tanner Krebs, the heroes of the Boomers opening match, unless they are needed.

Expect the Aussies to start better against the Philippines and control this match. Nick Kay and Sam Froling will control the paint forcing the Philippines to play to their weakness and shoot from the perimeter.

  • Australia have beaten the Philippines by 16 points or more in their last 3 meetings.
  • Australia are averaging 85.3 points per game in the Asian Qualifiers.
  • The Philippines struggle from the 3-point line with a 23.6 3P%
  • Nick Kay had 11 rebounds against Guam and averages a team-high 9.3 per game.

Australian Boomers Form & Team News

The Boomers overcame a slowish start against the 79th-ranked Guam, turning a 1-point deficit in the second quarter into a 93-80 victory.

It was the Elijah Pepper and Tanner Krebs show with the NBL Playoffs pair doing their bit for their country before heading into the postseason, combining for 13 threes and 51 points to ensure that Australia stay unbeaten in their group after their double-victory over New Zealand in the first international window back in late November-December.

Tom Wilson was also a standout in the match, 2 boards away from a triple-double with 11 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds, while Sam Froling’s return in the Green and Gold was a successful one with the Illawarra big, delivering with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Philippines Form & Team News

The Philippines were just inches from an infamous comeback in the fourth quarter against the Tall Blacks in their opening match of the FIBA window, falling 3 points short of victory 69-66 in a match that was theirs for the taking.

A 14-point run in the second quarter saw the Philippines head into the third quarter with momentum, however their 4-point lead in the term diminished and was never regained, being outscored after the break 20-9, trailing by 11 heading into the final quarter. A gap they never closed.

Dwight Ramos was the standout for the home team with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals, however despite scoring 5 points in the final 1:36 it was enough to pinch the win.
