There was some skepticism about how Dubai would adapt to Euroleague basketball in their debut season, but after four rounds, they are performing quite well.
Following a huge away win over Fenerbahce, they now sit among the teams with a 2-2 record. On Tuesday, Dubai stunned the reigning European champions on their home floor with a dominant 93-69 victory.
While Fenerbahce has struggled early in the season, Dubai’s performance should not be underestimated, especially given their significant injury problems.
Without their main stars Džanan Musa, Aleksa Avramovic, Nate Mason, Mam Jaiteh, and Justin Anderson, the rest of the squad stepped up and delivered a fantastic team performance.
Canadian center Mfiondu Kabengele was outstanding, nearly perfect in 24 minutes with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Dwayne Bacon added 21 points, while captain Klemen Prepelic and Davis Bertans scored 13 each, and Filip Petrusev contributed 11 points.

Barcelona achieved their easiest win of the season so far against Maccabi Tel Aviv in Belgrade’s Aleksandar Nikolic Hall.
From the opening minutes, the Catalan team showed their motivation and determination to secure a road win. Coach Penarroya surprised everyone by starting young Malian forward Sayon Keita, who made the most of his opportunity.
By midway through the first quarter, Barcelona had already built a 15-point lead, which kept growing until reaching a maximum of +30 early in the final period.
It was a brilliant all-around team performance, with the Catalans shooting 50% from the field, collecting 40 rebounds, and dishing out 20 assists.
Spanish center Willy Hernangomez led the team with 19 points in just 12 minutes, while Kevin Punter and Myles Cale each added 12 points.
Head to Head
This will be the first official meeting between Dubai and Barcelona. The return game in Barcelona is scheduled for January 20 next year.
Verdict
Both teams played their previous games on the road earlier this week and had equal rest and preparation time, so fatigue should not be a factor here.
Barcelona has shown strong performances away from home so far, and with their superior individual quality and experience, they should find a way past Dubai and secure their fourth win of the season.
