Barcelona Form & Team News
Barcelona enters this EuroLeague clash with a 3–2 record, though their performances have been uneven so far. The Catalans looked impressive in a 108-point outburst against Valencia but suffered a surprising 86–92 home defeat to Forca Lleida.
Their offensive rhythm largely depends on perimeter accuracy, they shoot 39% from three in wins but drop to 31% in losses, showing how much their flow relies on spacing and outside shooting.
Injury issues continue to affect the team’s balance. Both Nicolas Laprovittola (ankle) and Juan Nunez (hamstring) remain sidelined, leaving Barcelona short-handed in the backcourt.
This forces more creation through wings and forwards, particularly Tornike Shengelia and Will Clyburn, who combine for around 28 points per game and bring valuable experience on both ends of the floor.
At home, Barcelona remains a dominant force. The Palau Blaugrana crowd provides consistent energy, and the team averages over 82 points per game in front of its fans. When their ball movement clicks, they look like a title contender, but inconsistency has been the recurring theme so far this season.
The key for Barcelona will be maintaining tempo and finding early rhythm from deep. If their shooters settle quickly and Shengelia establishes an inside presence, they are likely to dictate pace and control the game against a struggling Zalgiris defense.
Zalgiris Form & Team News
Zalgiris began the EuroLeague season solidly at 3-2, but momentum faded quickly with two straight defeats, each time conceding at least 87 points.
Their usually reliable defense has been below par, struggling to contain fast-paced offenses and transition play. This defensive drop-off has been the main reason behind their recent slide in form.
Offensively, Zalgiris depends heavily on Sylvain Francisco, who averages six assists per game, but his turnovers increase significantly away from home.
That inconsistency in ball control limits their ability to maintain pressure in half-court sets. The team’s rhythm often collapses when opponents tighten perimeter defense and deny easy passing lanes.
The absence of Dovydas Giedraitis (knee) further reduces their flexibility on the wings, impacting both shooting depth and defensive rotations. Without him, Zalgiris lacks a natural two-way player to guard elite scorers like Clyburn or Punter, forcing them into mismatches that Barcelona will try to exploit.
To stay competitive, Zalgiris must rediscover their defensive discipline and slow the game’s tempo. They did upset Barcelona once last season, but with the Catalans winning four of the last five meetings and averaging 82 points in that stretch, the Lithuanian side faces an uphill battle in Palau Blaugrana.
Head to Head
In both head-to-head meetings last season, Barcelona and Zalgiris each won their home game.
Verdict
Barcelona looks better prepared for this matchup, with home advantage and a deeper frontcourt likely to make the difference.
Zalgiris is struggling defensively, and unless they find answers early, Barcelona should control the rhythm and secure a comfortable win at Palau Blaugrana.
