Racing NSW has announced the 2022 dates and venues for the $1.6 million Country Championships Series.
The Country Championships series in 2022 will again be run on six Sundays and two Saturday's before culminating in a $500,000 Final at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday, April 2, 2022.
The series commences with a double header on the weekend of February 12 and 13 at Coffs Harbour (Northern Rivers) and Nowra (South East).
The full list of Country Championships qualifiers are:
- February 12, 2022 - Saturday - Coffs Harbour, Northern Rivers
- February 13, 2022 - Sunday - Nowra, South East
- February 19, 2022 - Saturday - Wagga Wagga, Southern Districts
- February 20, 2022 - Sunday - Taree, Mid North Coast
- February 27, 2022 - Sunday - Mudgee, Central Districts
- March 6, 2022 - Sunday - Tamworth, Hunter & North West
- March 13, 2022 - Sunday - Coonamble, Western
- March 20, 2022 - Sunday - Scone, Wild Card
- April 2, 2022 - Saturday - Royal Randwick, Final
The field for The Country Championships Final at Royal Randwick will include 16 starters, which are the first two finishers in each regional qualifying race and the Wild Card.
Each qualifying heat is worth $150,000 in total, barring the Wild Card event which is a $50,000 race.
