The upcoming EuroLeague match sees Virtus Bologna hosting Crvena Zvezda after Bologna's narrow loss to Fenerbahce. Bologna struggles with a short rotation due to missing key players like Luca Vildoza. Meanwhile, Zvezda enters the game with high confidence after consecutive wins against Milan and Monaco, fueled by standout performances from Ebuka Izundu and Jordan Nwora. The extra rest day might give Zvezda an edge in securing another victory.

Virtus Bologna Form & Team News

In the first game of this week double-round EuroLeague schedule, Virtus Bologna were defeated at home by Fenerbahce 85:80.

It was the Italian team third home loss in the competition and their 12th overall, further damaging their chances of finishing in the top 10.

Like their opponent, Virtus played this game shorthanded due to the absence of Luca Vildoza and Alen Smailagic, which significantly affected their chances of winning.

The first half against Fenerbahce was controlled by the hosts, both in terms of play and score, but they suffered a major drop in the third quarter, scoring just 13 points and allowing the visitors to completely shift the momentum.

In the final quarter, Virtus were unable to withstand the pressure with a very short rotation, so a season-best performance by Carsen Edwards, who scored 35 points, ended in defeat.

Alongside Edwards, Matt Morgan and Derrick Alston Jr also reached double figures, finishing the game with 14 points each.

Crvena Zvezda Form & Team News

For the second time in just a few days, Crvena Zvezda recorded an away win in the EuroLeague after a major comeback. After beating Olimpia Milano, they also defeated a strong Monaco side on Tuesday after overtime, 100:96.

Zvezda showed big fluctuations in their performance, but ultimately deserved their 13th win of the season, strengthening their hold on 10th place in the standings with momentum pointing upward.

The red and whites easily squandered an 18-point lead from the first half, and it seemed Monaco would cruise to victory when they built a 10-point advantage midway through the final quarter.

That was when center Ebuka Izundu and Jarred Butler stepped up, scoring key baskets to spark a comeback and force overtime.

In the extra period, Jordan Nwora took over, hitting two quick three-pointers that completely shattered the home team confidence, as Monaco failed to recover for the remainder of the game.

With a fantastic performance of 22 points and 12 rebounds for a performance index rating of 36, Ebuka Izundu earned MVP of the round honors. Jordan Nwora added 18 points, while Semi Ojeleye contributed 16.

Head to Head

One month ago, Crvena Zvezda and Virtus Bologna played an excellent game in the Belgrade Arena, where the hosts won 90:89. In the final second, Carsen Edwards missed a potential game-winning shot.

Verdict

Virtus Bologna spent a lot of energy in the game against Fenerbahce, where they left everything on the court. It should not be overlooked that Crvena Zvezda had one extra day of rest and preparation, which could have a significant impact on the final outcome.

After two consecutive road wins against Milano and Monaco, Crvena Zvezda players confidence has risen dramatically, and I expect them to deliver another equally strong performance in Bologna.
