Valencia has been showing fairly good results in their return season to the Euroleague. They currently have a record of 5 wins and 4 losses, sharing 6th place in the standings with several other teams.

After three straight victories, last week they suffered a defeat away against Zalgiris with a score of 86:77. It was a pale performance from coach Martinez’s team, which failed to impose its recognizable style of play against a very tough opponent.

Valencia played their weakest offensive game of the season and also struggled defensively, allowing Zalgiris to hit 12 three-pointers from 29 attempts.

Some key players underperformed, including Darius Thompson, who scored only 4 points, and young Sergio De Larrea, who could not handle the aggressive defense and finished the game scoreless.

A weekend defeat against Granada in the Spanish League further confirmed that Valencia is not in good momentum, so it remains to be seen whether they can mentally and physically bounce back in such a short period against one of the toughest possible opponents.

A somewhat weaker start to the season raised doubts about the quality and potential of this Real Madrid team, but as time passes, the Spanish giants look better and more convincing.

After a disappointing loss away to Bayern Munich, Real Madrid recorded two dominant wins against Fenerbahce and Barcelona, now sitting among the group of teams with a 5:4 record.

Los Blancos played an almost perfect El Clasico, never allowing Barcelona to seriously threaten their lead.

Canadian international and former NBA player Trey Lyles had his best performance since joining the club, scoring 29 points (9/13 FG) in 24 minutes and proving to be an unsolvable problem for Barcelona’s defense.

He received great support from Facundo Campazzo and Mario Hezonja, who both scored 15 points, while Theo Maledon added 12 points and is slowly adapting to his role on the team. Edy Tavares also stood out with 10 rebounds and his usual strong defensive presence.

Over the weekend, Real Madrid continued their good form with an 80:75 win away against Joventut in the ACB League, led by newcomer Alex Len, who scored 12 points in just 12 minutes.

This will be the second meeting between Valencia and Real Madrid this season. In the first one, Valencia claimed victory in the Spanish Supercup final, winning 98:94, led by Sergio De Larrea with 21 points.
