Real Madrid Form & Team News
Real Madrid has not been spectacular at the start of the new season, but their quality and talent have allowed them to win several games comfortably.
They currently hold a 2-1 record. After an impressive win over Olympiacos, they handled French side ASVEL with ease in the previous round.
Real played that game in a relaxed rhythm, controlling it without much trouble against a team expected to finish near the bottom of the table. Coach Scariolo rotated his players evenly, and apart from the win, he can be happy with the performance of one of his key signings, Chuma Okeke.
The forward with NBA experience had struggled to adapt to European basketball in earlier games, but against ASVEL he finally shone and showed his potential.
Okeke finished with 17 points, shooting perfectly from the field, and deservedly earned the title of player of the game. Alongside him, another NBA veteran, Trey Lyles, contributed 12 points and 6 rebounds.
Partizan Form & Team News
Partizan is coming off a successful Euroleague week after defeating Anadolu Efes 93-87 in the heated atmosphere of the Belgrade Arena.
The team played a composed and high-quality game, just as coach Obradovic wanted, controlling the score and the flow of the match from start to finish.
Sterling Brown reminded everyone of his excellent performances from parts of last season and was the key factor in his team’s victory.
He finished the game with 24 points, playing the most minutes of any Partizan player. Isaac Bonga was also outstanding, scoring 18 points and making a major impact on defense. Tyrique Jones (16 points and 8 rebounds), Carlik Jones (10 points), and Dylan Osetkowski (10 points and 6 rebounds) also scored in double figures.
Overall, it was a strong team performance from Partizan, except for Jabari Parker, who had a night to forget, making just one of nine field goal attempts.
Head to Head
Last season, Real Madrid won both matchups between the two clubs. Both games were close and high-scoring. In Madrid, the final score was 93–86 for the home side.
Verdict
A strong rivalry has developed between these clubs in recent seasons, largely due to their memorable playoff series two years ago.
This time, the stakes are not as high, but a potential win would mean a lot for both teams’ confidence.
I expect a quality performance from both sides and an efficient game with plenty of scoring, where the difference will likely come from an individual player’s moment of brilliance.
