NBA 2025 MVP Odds, Tips and Predictions - Updated

The 2024/2025 NBA Season is well and truly going with the NBA Cup now reaching it's finals stages. Our basketball experts at Bets.com.au are here to update the odds on MVP award for this year.

The NBA MVP Award is an annual award given since the 1955-56 season to the best performing player of the regular season. The trophy presented to players since the 2022-23 season is the Michael Jordan Trophy, named for the 5-time MVP who is often considered the GOAT in NBA.

The votes are decided by a panel of sports writers and broadcasters from across the country who vote from 1st to 5th with each placing getting a number of points. Since 2010 there is one ballot which is cast by fans through online voting. The player with the most points tallied wins the award.

The MVP of the 2023/24 season was Nikola Jokic from the Denver Nuggets who won the award for the 3rd time (20/21, 21/22, 23/24).

Elitebet have Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the current favourite over 3 time winner Nikola Jokic. We will update the odds and picks every week so you have the best opportunity to win big.

Week 14-16

It is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander $1.15 who continues to streak away from the competition for MVP honours as we pass the midway point of the season and the trade deadline.

Three time winner Nikola Jokic $5.25 is still hanging around and doing amazing things for his Denver Nuggets but it is SGA's award to lose right now.

Week 13

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander $1.26 has shortened again with his Oklahoma City Thunder also taking top spot in the NBA Championship Odds. The gap to Giannis Antetokounmpo $38 and Jayson Tatum $51 is getting bigger by the week.

Week 12

No major movement in the list this week with SGA and Jokic still battling it out at the top. Anthony Davis $201 has entered back into the fray but is way off the pace to even be considered.

It is a two horse race and if any of those two fail there are three guys with much better season's waiting for their moment in the spotlight.

Week 10 & 11

There has been significant shifts in this list over the past two weeks. Luka Doncic went down with a calf injury on Christmas which will see him miss a big chunk of time. He is a notable absentee from this list. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander $1.67 has shortened dramatically in what is shaping to be a 2 horse race between him and 3 time MVP Nikola Jokic $2.40

Victor Wembanyama $91.00 is a good long shot option with the numbers he is putting up this season. If any of the two favourites go down he will be a very real chance of taking the first of many MVP titles still to come in his career.

Week 9

The rift has once again widened with Karl-Anthony Towns $101 dropping to triple figures leaving the top 5 to battle amongst themselves. Nikola Jokic $2.06 has dropped back to over $2 as Giannis Antetokounmpo $5.80 has started to make a charge to the top.

The top 4 candidates for this year's MVP are all born outside of the USA.

Week 8

This week we have seen the top 5 put a clear gap between themselves and the rest of the bunch. Anthony Edwards, Anthony Davis & Karl-Anthony Towns $81.00 are on the outside looking in but not completely out of the race. I still think it is worth chucking a little moolah on Donovan Mitchell $101 as the Cavaliers continue to win and are atop the standings in the NBA.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander $3.25 could see a price drop depending on the outcome of the Oklahoma Cirt Thunder vs Milwaukee Bucks NBA Cup Final

Week 7

Nikola Jokic $1.73 has an unassailable lead at the top of the rankings. It is going to take major injury or some really outstanding performances from these other players to displace him from the top.

Giannis Antetokounmpo $9.00 is the type of player that could do that likewise Luka Doncic $11.00 but there will have to be some pretty big moments for the momentum to shift away from Jokic.

Week 6

The top 4 hasn't changed save for minor shifts in the decimals. Luka Doncic $11.00 has shot back up the list while Anthony Edwards $20.00 has slunk down the list on the back of poor results for the T-Wolves.

Donovan Mitchell $31.00 is still in my opinion the best shot from the long shots with Cleveland still continuing to win.

Week 5

Nikola Jokic $2.70 has broken the $3 barrier as he continues to dominate opponents for the Denver Nuggets. He is 4th in scoring, 1st in Rebounds, 2nd in Assists with the 3rd best 3pt% in the league. He is a beast!

Giannis Antetokounmpo $9.50 has climbed up into single digits but similar to Anthony Edwards $13.00 and Luka Doncic $14.00 the team record could ultimately hurt these players as they toil further down in the standings.

Week 4

Nikola Jokic $3.10 has steady at the top of the rankings as their 5 game win streak was broken by two consecutive losses over the weekend. Jayson Tatum $5.75 has leapfrogged Luka Doncic $10.00 while Donovan Mitchell $31.00 has shortened dramatically as the Cavs continue their unbeaten run at 15-0.

Steph Curry $36.00 takes up a spot in the top list with the Warriors jostling at the top of the Western Conference standings.

Week 3

Nikola Jokic $2.86 has shot to the top of the rankings for NBA MVP with a resurgence in the Denver Nuggets this past week. Donovan Mitchell $44.00 is leading his Cavaliers as the only unbeaten team in the NBA so far this season and is a good shout if you think the Cavs can hold their own through the season.

Kevin Durant $61.00 is in a similar situation with Phoenix performing well to start things off but will probably share the spoils of his team's success with Devin Booker $81.00 reducing his chances at the award.

Week 2

SGA $3.10 and Luka $3.70 have swapped spots this week with the Thunder still undefeated in the West, Gilgeous-Alexander is 13th in scoring but 5th in Player Rating as his team continues to dominate opponents.

Anthony Davis $15.00 has continued to climb the rankings but at a slower pace. He leads the league in scoring at 31.8pts per game with the Lakers at 4-2 on the short season. Kevin Durant $41 has also entered the fold as Phoenix sit 2nd in the West with a 5-1 record.

Week 1

Joel Embiid has fallen completely away after failing to start the season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has shortened to second favourite with last year's winner Nikola Jokic taking a bit of a sting following his team's poor start.

Jayson Tatum and Anthony Davis have both risen in the rankings as the Celtics and Lakers have started 3-0 over the first weekend of play.

Bets.com.au Pre-Season MVP Picks

Our team of Basketball nerds have singled out their best pick for the MVP award - are you with them or against them?

Ryan - Shai Gilgeous-Alexander $6.00 PlayUp
Shai was 2nd in voting last season and has gone from strength to strength with his Oklahoma City Thunder team. Now i am a little pissed that they traded away our boy Josh Giddey but with the extra defence they have brought in and Shai possibly becoming even better this season the Thunder could go very far! We know that the MVP player usually will be part of the top 2 or 3 teams in each conference which is where the Thunder will finish. Lock him in!

Jeremy - Luka Doncic $4.50 PlayUp
It is a bit of a cop out taking the favourite but how many years are going to pass before this generational talent takes out this award? The Mavs have strengthened their team in the off-season and Doncic is as primed as ever to make another run to the finals. Luka is no doubt one of the most terrific players of our generation with his scoring prowess and basketball IQ. There is every chance he not only wins this year but keeps winning well into the future.

Josh - Victor Wenbanyama $21.00 PlayUp
I've taken the roughy here. Victor was sensational last season and now has Chris Paul in his team running the point. You have to see him to believe just how big he is and even then you can't believe your eyes. Playing under one of the greatest coaches of all time in Greg Popovic there is no doubt in my mind that Wenbanyama will win this award one day. I am just hoping that it is while i can get him at this price!
