Week 17
The trade deadline is well and truly in the rear-view mirror and the All-Star break is fast approaching. The New York Knicks $12.00 have moved up into 4th spot winning 8 of their last 10 games. The LA Lakers $13.00 remain in the top 5 with Luka Doncic making his debut earlier in the week.
Despite reports that Anthony Davis could miss significant time the Dallas Mavericks $34 are still within the top 10.
Week 15/16 - Trade Deadline
The top two teams in Oklahoma City Thunder $3.10 and Boston Celtics $3.25 continue to swap spots at the top of the odds table as they trade wins in their respective conferences.
The biggest jump from the end of the trade deadline has come from the Los Angeles Lakers $11.00 with the acquisition of Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks $31.00.
Golden State Warriors $31 added Jimmy Butler at the deadline and are once again top 10 odds to take the title despite currently having a losing record and sitting at 11th in the Western Conference.
Week 14
The Boston Celtics $3.25 have regained top spot in the rankings despite having a worse record than Oklahoma City Thunder $3.30 and Cleveland Cavaliers $8.25.
Phoenix Suns $34 and Los Angeles Clippers $41 have returned to the top 10 with the Lakers and Warriors dropping out.
Week 13
The Oklahoma City Thunder $3.40 have taken over as odds leaders havin won 20 of their last 22 games while the Boston Celtics $3.50 have been playing .500 basketball the past few weeks.
Golden State Warriors $34 have fallen away as they continue to be average especially against top teams. The Memphis Grizzlies $26.00 are still at great value given their roster and winning record.
Week 12
Finally bookmakers have put some trust in the Cleveland Cavaliers $8.00 who have moved to single digit odds for the first time this season. They have a 34-5 record with their second 12 game win streak snapped on Sunday against the Pacers.
The Orlando Magic $48 and LA Clippers $41 are two teams with top 5 records in their conference but do not feature in the top list of odds rankings, yet. The value is there for these teams now if you believe they can make a play-off run.
Week 11
The Cleveland Cavaliers $12.00 continue to dominate the league currently 5.5 games ahead of the Boston Celtics $3.20 in the Eastern Conference with no signs of slowing down. The bookies still don't have confidence that they can go all the way so why not take the money on offer to then have a greater opportunity to hedge out later?
Memphis Grizzlies $26.00 are equal 2nd in the West but are ranked 9th in the Championship Odds. Denver Nuggets $15.00 and Dallas Mavericks $15.00 are two teams that have featured heavily in Conference and NBA Finals in recent years and are a steal at that price!
Week 10
The numbers have started to stabilise with not a lot of movement over the Christmas period. The top three are the same with Cleveland Cavaliers $14.00 taking a slight bump up to fourth spot in the rankings.
Golden State Warriors $20.00 are still in the top 10 despite losing 12 of their last 16 games. Memphis Grizzlies $23.00 have the second best record in the Western Conference but have just scraped into this rankings table.
Week 9
Memphis Grizzlies $22.00 have entered the fray as the 2nd ranked team in the Western Conference and considering how short the other teams at the top of the conferences are the Grizz are currently great value.
There hasn't been any movement in the rankings otherwise, just some adjustment in the numbers with a big difference between the top two teams and the New York Knicks $12.00 in third spot.
Week 8
The Cleveland Cavaliers $15.00 still lead all teams in the standings, 1.5 games ahead of Boston Celtics $3.25 and a theoretical 2 games ahead of OKC $4.75 from the West. Bookies are still not sold though, the regular season is long and playoffs are a different kettle of fish.
Experienced campaigners like the Dallas Mavericks $13.00, Denver Nuggets $17.00 and Golden State Warriors $19.00 would all be significantly lower odds if the play-offs were tomorrow.
Week 7
The NBA Cup heads into finals mode and Christmas is just around the corner. Boston $3.25 are still the favourites with Oklahoma City $5.30 backing slightly to create more space between the top two teams in the rankings.
Milwaukee Bucks $23.00 re-enter the fold with the team 10-3 in their last 13 games. Orlando Magic $41, Miami Heat $51 and Los Angeles Clippers $65 are all priced highly but sit well up in the standings.
Week 6
With the league starting to settle and the cream rising to the top there has been few changes in the odds rankings. The biggest mover is Minnesota Timberwolves $20.00 who have dropped down a few dollars behind the Phoenix Suns $16.00.
Los Angeles Lakers $23.00 are still in the top 10 as the 9th ranked team in the Western Conference with a 12-9 record.
Week 5
The Cleveland Cavaliers $10.00 finally were knocked off their unbeated run but have shortened in the odds from last week now sitting at 3rd in the list. They are two games in front of the Boston Celtics $3.30 in the East who also lead the odds rankings.
Phoenix $16.00 have pushed out somewhat following a string of losses with their stars injured. Minnesota $16.00 are also in that mix of teams that might be good, but also might not be good.
The LA Clippers $101 featured in the top 4 of the West for a short period during the week with their defence starting to turn heads. If you like a long shot, they might be it with Kawhi Leonard nearing a return to play.
Week 4
Despite the Cleveland Cavaliers $15.00 remaining undefeated through 4 weeks of competition they remain 8th in the odds rankings shortening only $4 on last week's price. Denver Nuggets $13.00 have gone on a bit of a run and have climbed back up to the top 5.
Not much else has changed in the order or numbers with teams playing more or less to their expectation over the past week.
Week 3
The order hasn't changed at the top of the rankings with some minor adjustments in the numbers the only difference. The Phoenix Suns $14.00 have hopped up a few spots to 6th whilst the Cleveland Cavaliers $19.00 break the 20 barrier as the only team to remain undefeateed so far this season.
Golden State $22.00 have had a great run to start the year but are probably better value as winners of the NBA Emirates Cup.
Week 2
Boston $3.65 have shortened as favourites following the completion of Week 2 of the NBA. They have a 6-1 record and seemed to have only gotten better in the off-season. In the West OKC Thunder $5.00 remain undefeated at the top of the conference and have in turn also shortened as 2nd favourites to take the title.
Cleveland $20.00 have almost halved their number since last week as they remain the only undefeated team in the East with the 5-1 Golden State Warriors $34.00 at a very juicy rate. Things will start to get interesting as we edge closer to the In-Season Tournament and an intense schedule for a lot of competing teams.
Week 1
Following the first week of NBA action there has not been a great deal of movement in the odds with most teams playing around about their expectations. The LA Lakers have entered the top 10 after starting the season undefeated in their 3 hitouts.
Despite also going undefeated the Cleveland Cavaliers have pushed out from $34 to $41 but probably has more to do with the Celtics and Knicks playing lights out basketball.
The LA Clippers went down to Phoenix in OT in their first game before beating the GS Warriors in game two of their season start. You can still get them at $101.
Pre-Season
The core of the Celtics will stay together with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday and Derrick White all contracted to at least the 2024-25 season. With their star-studded starting team getting 64 wins last season and only losing 4 games at their TD Arena in Boston it is no surprise that they head into the new season as very short $4.00 favourites.
Last year’s NBA Finalists the Dallas Mavericks are fourth favourites to claim the ring in 2024-25 with Boston’s closest competition expected to be the the Oklahoma City Thunder who have been active in the offseason and picked up some key defensive pieces that they were missing last year.
The New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets round out the top 5 and are expected to be the only real contenders that can compete with the star-power of Boston.
However, if there is going to be a somewhat underdog challenging the top team in the NBA 2024-25 season the Minnesota Timberwolves at $12.00 are a good outside chance after their long run in the playoffs last season that saw them knocked out of the race by the Mavericks in the Western Conference Final.
Can the Celtics make their own history as back-to-back champions or will we see an underdog come to steal their crown?
