After suffering two defeats in Belgrade against Partizan and Crvena Zvezda, Monaco bounced back and recorded two statement wins, climbing to fifth place in the EuroLeague standings with an 8-5 record.
First, they easily defeated ASVEL on the road 84-52, and then followed that up with a dominant home win against Anadolu Efes, crushing them 102-66.
The level of Monaco's dominance is best shown by the fact that they scored 102 points and beat a respected opponent by 36 points despite shooting an awful 5/21 from three.
The key to their victory was aggressive offense and offensive rebounding, which generated a large number of free throws and easy points.
German center Daniel Theis was perfect with 17 points on flawless shooting from the field, while Alpha Diallo added 13, Matthew Strazel 12, and reliable backup center Kevarrius Hayes also contributed 12 points.
In their most recent game on Monday in the French Cup - a 109-103 win over Paris - the spotlight belonged to Mike James, who delivered his best shooting performance of the season.
James finished with 32 points, including an unbelievable perfect 7/7 from three, while his backcourt partner Elie Okobo followed with 19 points.

Although Paris have not had successful results over the past two weeks, their performances have hardly been poor cuz they have continued to show quality basketball.
Offensively, they mostly delivered what we are used to from them, even exceeding their averages, but for better results they need a drastic improvement on the defensive end.
Against Olympiacos, they were undone by a disastrous second quarter, which they lost 37-20, while against Dubai they were only a bit short on luck and discipline in key moments.
They came extremely close to becoming the first EuroLeague team to win at Coca Cola Arena -a notoriously difficult road game. In the end, they suffered a narrow 90-89 loss. Paris completely collapsed in the fourth quarter, allowing 31 points and failing to stop almost any offensive possession from the home team.
Guards Nadir Hifi and Justin Robinson had a particularly rough night, combining for a dreadful 8/30 shooting, which overshadowed the spectacular performance by Derek Willis (22 points, 7 rebounds).
With this defeat, Paris dropped to 14th in the standings, and in the coming period they will need to significantly raise their defensive level to get back into the playoff race.
Head to Head
This will be the third meeting between these clubs this season. Monaco won the previous two encounters, both of which were high-scoring games.
Verdict
Their game on Tuesday already showed a preview of what their upcoming EuroLeague matchup might look like.
It may not reach over 200 total points again, but I expect another high-tempo game with early-shot-clock attempts, plenty of free throws, and a large number of easy baskets.
