In their third El Clasico meeting of the season, Real Madrid seeks to avenge their recent ACB League loss to Barcelona in an exciting EuroLeague matchup. Currently on a three-game winning streak, Real Madrid hopes to leverage their improving form and roster strength, with standout performances from players like Mario Hezonja. Meanwhile, Barcelona remains in strong form under Xavi Pascual's leadership, sitting in fourth place in the EuroLeague standings. However, they continue to miss key player Will Clyburn due to injury, though his return may be imminent. The matchup promises intensity as both teams have had one away victory each in previous clashes.

Real Madrid Form & Team News

Real Madrid are slowly catching up with the top of the standings after a somewhat slow start to the season. They are currently in 7th place with a 13-8 record and are on a three-game winning streak in the EuroLeague.

After victories against Dubai and ASVEL, Real Madrid also defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv 98-86 in an empty Movistar Arena.

The home team broke the game open midway through the third quarter with a 12-0 run, turning a 53-53 tie into a 65-53 lead.

In those moments, Mario Hezonja and Facundo Campazzo shined with 10 points combined, while Edy Tavares and Gabriel Deck joined them before the end of the quarter.

At the start of the final period, Real Madrid extended the lead to a maximum of 20 points and then calmly closed out the game without allowing the opponent to cut the deficit to single digits.

Mario Hezonja and Facu Campazzo continued their strong performances after heavy criticism earlier in the season. They combined for 31 points, while Andres Feliz, Trey Lyles, and Gabi Deck also reached double figures.

Barcelona Form & Team News

Since the return of Xavi Pascual, Barcelona have looked like a reborn team. This is reflected in their fourth place in the EuroLeague standings and their road win against Real Madrid in the domestic league.

That El Clasico win was followed by two fairly routine home victories in the Blaugrana against Maccabi Tel Aviv and Partizan. Both games followed a similar pattern, with Barcelona largely controlling the pace and the score.

Against Partizan, Barca had some offensive issues in the first quarter, scoring only 13 points, but they made up for it by scoring 75 points over the next three quarters.

Barcelona shot a poor 28 percent from three-point range in that game, but a low number of turnovers and excellent two-point shooting allowed them to dominate inside and execute Xavi Pascual game plan efficiently.

Willy Hernangomez and Jan Vesely completely overpowered Partizan frontcourt, combining for 30 points while shooting an identical 7/9 from two-point range. As usual, Kevin Punter with 11 points and Toko Shengelia with 13 points also finished in double figures.

Barcelona are still without one of their key players, Will Clyburn, who is recovering from a hamstring injury. The good news is that he has started training and could return to the court in the near future.

Head to Head

This will be the third El Clasico of the season. The current head-to-head record is tied, and interestingly, the away team has won both previous meetings.

Real Madrid were successful in the EuroLeague, while Barcelona took revenge in the ACB League.

Verdict

Both previous matchups were full of points and spectacular individual performances. The same was true in the last two El Clasico games from the previous season, and it seems this is becoming a tradition in clashes between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

I expect another high-scoring game in which strong offenses will once again put defense in the background.
