It feels like it has been an eternity since Australia genuinely competed at a Rugby Championship and, despite their strong start, they will almost certainly miss out on the trophy this year.

Australia are the big outsiders in the betting, with reigning champions South Africa currently the big favourites.

The 2025 Rugby Championship is a competition that will be won by either of South Africa or New Zealand.

The Springboks arrive for the final game of the campaign against Argentina sitting at the top of the ladder with 15 points. They take on bottom side Argentina with the trophy on the line.

The other match sees second placed New Zealand travelling to take on Australia. The All Blacks are in second with 14 points, while the Aussies have 11 points.

With a -6 points difference to South Africa's +55, New Zealand likely need the Springboks to lose to have any hope of securing the trophy. A bonus point win over Australia and South Africa winning without a bonus point could still see New Zealand win the title, but they will likely need to beat the Aussies by bear 100 points to put pressure on South Africa.

For the Aussies, the title is only within reach if South Africa are beaten by Argentina and Australia beat the All Blacks and better their points difference of +1.

While the competition looks like it will be won by South Africa, it has stood out as one of the best iterations of the tournament. Each side was in with a chance of winning the competition with two games to come as each team traded blows.

No side has gone anywhere near perfect, with South Africa and New Zealand winning three times, with the other two winning twice.

While the tournament is now likely down to just two sides, the 2025 Rugby Championship has been a superb exhibition of four of the best sides in the men's game.
