Rosehill hosts their final Group 1 meeting of the 2026 Sydney Autumn Carnival on March 28, with Saturday’s program serving as the last major stop before attention shifts to Randwick for The Championships.

The Tancred Stakes and Vinery Stud Stakes headline the card, bringing together a mix of proven Group 1 performers, emerging stayers and high-quality fillies across two key features.

Full fields for all races on Saturday’s Rosehill program can be found by the link at the bottom of the page.

Vinery Stud Stakes

Ohope Wins (barrier 9) will now be prepared by Chris Waller, with the former New Zealand-based filly winning her last three starts across the Tasman, including the Group 1 New Zealand Oaks on February 21.

The daughter of Ocean Park is now owned by Yulong Investments, who raced last year’s Vinery Stud Stakes winner Treasurethe Moment, and she has since completed a trial on March 16 ahead of her Australian debut.

Panova (barrier 7) is another from the Waller stable, arriving third-up and suited rising in distance after finishing fifth in the Phar Lap Stakes last start, following a well-beaten effort in the Surround Stakes, with her spring highlighted by back-to-back Group 3 wins including the Carbine Club Stakes.

Belle Cheval (barrier 2) shapes as a key runner on Australian debut, with the Savabeel filly a two-time Group 3 winner before a narrow last-start defeat behind the unbeaten Well Written in New Zealand.

Salty Pearl (barrier 3) also features prominently, with the Ciaron Maher-trained filly winning the VOBIS Platinum Guineas last start, while she was also a Group 2 winner at Moonee Valley in the spring.

Tancred Stakes

Aeliana (barrier 8) returned to the winner’s stall with victory in last Saturday’s Group 1 Ranvet Stakes, continuing her strong preparation heading into the Tancred Stakes.

The four-year-old now steps out to 2400m, a distance she relished last preparation when producing a dominant performance to win the Australian Derby.

Dubai Honour (barrier 9) shapes as a key contender for the feature, with the William Haggas-trained gelding boasting an outstanding record in Australia, highlighted by his victory in last year’s Tancred Stakes.

Haggas has enjoyed notable success with his Sydney runners, preparing 11 winners from 27 starters, while Dubai Honour himself has recorded multiple Group 1 wins in Australia, including the Ranvet Stakes and Queen Elizabeth Stakes during the 2023 Autumn Carnival.

Vauban (barrier 4) adds further intrigue to the staying contest, having returned with a first-up victory over 2000m at Rosehill in the Sky High Stakes and bringing a proven profile over extended trips into this Group 1 assignment.
