Nine of the 10 acceptors are first-up and with long campaigns in mind for the fresh runners, it could be a tactical/slowly run affair, unless Moira is stamped urgent.
That could play into the hands of Evaporate, especially from a low draw and one of the main on-speed influences arrives to the PB Lawrence Stakes off two sharp jump-out wins.
The Hayes-trained galloper (they've prepared the last three winners of this race) progressed over his three-year-old season, where the only major failure came in the Cox Plate and he rounded out his autumn with a Group 3 triumph.
Champion jockey Blake Shinn is confident that Evaporate can measure up in WFA company this season and with a map advantage over his main threats, he ticks plenty of boxes.
2025 PB Lawrence Stakes Next Best Bet - Here To Shock
The stiffest competition for Evaporate could well be the stablemate, who was in career best touch last season and his two recent jump-out's Flemington were both encouraging.
Here To Shock hasn't finished out of the top two in four tries over the Caulfield 1400m (two wins and two seconds) and his last track/trip attempt resulted in a second behind Another Wil.
Another Wil was a subsequent Group 1 winner, as was Gringotts and Here To Shock defeated that galloper last spring before the tables were turned in the Big Dance.
The son of Shocking responded with two wins and a second, which includes a Group 1 triumph in New Zealand and with a lack of speed, he may be able to cross early from a wide alley.
2025 PB Lawrence Stakes Value Bet - Sepals
At least a few of these are likely to drift out in the betting closer to the jump and while the bookies are taking no early risk with Sepals, a better price could be available late.
There's plenty to like about the Cliff Brown-trained galloper, who completed a hat-trick at starts two, three and four before recording an end of prep fourth in the Group 1 Australian Guineas.
While they haven't been searching workouts, the classy Sepals has worked nicely on the bridle in two winter jump-out's and the last of those was a third in a heat won by Vinrock (Group 1 winner).
Under WFA conditions in the PB Lawrence Stakes, he's not well in vs more experienced and seasoned opposition, however, Sepals could be the most progressive horse here.
