Australian jockey Zac Purton has achieved another remarkable milestone, becoming the first rider in Hong Kong racing history to reach 1,900 career victories.

The landmark came at Happy Valley on Wednesday night (October 22), where Purton rode a hat-trick — bringing up the milestone before adding wins in the final two races on the eight-event card.

The achievement arrives less than a year after Purton surpassed Douglas Whyte’s all-time mark of 1,813 wins, confirming his dominance in a jurisdiction renowned for its depth and competitiveness.

Since relocating from Australia in 2007, Purton has steadily redefined what’s possible in the Hong Kong ranks, combining longevity with an exceptional strike rate.

The milestone continues a stunning week for Purton, who only days earlier guided Ka Ying Rising to victory in The Everest at Randwick, sealing one of the greatest international triumphs of his career.

Purton’s first success on the night came in Race 2 aboard Talents Supremo for Danny Shum, the win that marked his 1,900th in Hong Kong. He then capped the meeting with two more victories to complete a memorable treble.

Already an eight-time Hong Kong champion jockey, Purton continues to set unprecedented standards for longevity and excellence in one of the world’s most competitive racing arenas.

With his tally now climbing toward 2,000, his dominance shows no sign of slowing as he continues to rewrite the territory’s record books.
