Mystic Journey accepts for Launceston return on Wednesday
- Star Tasmanian mare Mystic Journey has accepted for the Ladbrokes Stakes on January 20
- This will be her first appearance since a luckless midfield finish as favourite in the 2020 Empire Rose Stakes
- Luke Currie will ride the five-year-old on Wednesday night

An $11,000 purchase at the 2017 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale, the daughter of Needs Further was outstanding throughout her three-year-old season (2018/2019) with six consecutive victories that included a dominant display in the Australian Guineas prior to taking out the inaugural running of the All-Star Mile, despite racing three-wide throughout the 1600m at Flemington.
Whilst she hasn't been able to add further to that Group One tally, this Adam Trinder-trained mare has recorded Group Two wins via the P.B Lawrence Stakes (2019) and most recently, the Stock Stakes in September 2020 prior to her luckless performance in the Empire Rose Stakes (Group One) on Derby Day.
Luke Currie will ride Mystic Journey on Wednesday night, a five-year-old that has accrued nearly $3.9 million in prizemoney over her 22-start career to date (12 wins).
Ladbrokes Stakes (1200m) which is a weight-for-age contest and it will be run as Race 6 (8.20pm) on the feature meeting from Launceston.
Just six runners make up the final field for Wednesday night's Mystic Journey is also one of the 83 nominations for the 2021 All-Star Mile at Moonee Valley on Saturday, March 13.
