Brenton Avdulla became the latest Australian jockey to reach a major Hong Kong milestone when he rode his 100th winner in the jurisdiction aboard Take Action at Happy Valley on Wednesday night.

The John Size-trained galloper delivered the landmark success almost three years after Avdulla first arrived in Hong Kong on a short-term licence in May 2023, with the Sydney premiership-winning rider establishing himself as a regular member of the Hong Kong jockey ranks.
Before relocating overseas, Avdulla enjoyed a successful career in Australia, riding more than 1,300 winners and 13 Group 1 winners, including Golden Slipper victors Estijaab and Fireburn.

The 35-year-old has now ridden 15 Group 1 winners during his career, including two since relocating to Hong Kong. Those victories came aboard California Spangle in the Group 1 Queen's Silver Jubilee Cup at Sha Tin and the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint in Dubai.

Avdulla's century continues a strong period for Australian riders in Hong Kong, with champion jockey Zac Purton becoming the first rider in the jurisdiction's history to bring up 2,000 winners at Sha Tin last Sunday.

Purton, who relocated to Hong Kong in 2007, already held the record for most wins in the jurisdiction and continues to extend his advantage at the top of the all-time standings.

With 100 Hong Kong winners now beside his name, Avdulla's latest milestone adds another chapter to a career that has produced success in Australia, Hong Kong and on the international stage.
