How The Saturday Lotto Works
The system worked on the 6-from-49 European lottery style, but this was changed to a 6-from-45 format in 1985, with this increasing the chance of winning a prize. This draw also sees an additional supplementary number drawn.
The Saturday Lotto currently offers a first division prize of $4 million each week. This is shared out between the winners. So, if there were four winners, each would get $1 million each. There are also special draws that occur throughout the year. The 'Superdraws' take place six or seven times a tea, with around $20 million on offer. The 'Megadraw' is another huge game taking place around Christmas/New Year, with the prize pushing $30 million.
To play, a player must purchase a minimum of four standard games (or six with a Quick Pick entry) at a cost of $0.65 per game, plus an agent's commission.
