How The Australian Powerball Works
The format for the Australian Powerball was tweaked in April 2018, with two Smartplay Halogen II draw machines employed. This was with the intention of creating bigger jackpots and creating more winners. Each draw sees seven regular numbers slected from a pool of 35. The Powerball is drawn from a pool of 20 separate balls.
A new ninth Prize Division was added recently, although this saw the price of entry rise. The current odds based on one game for winning the first division (seven numbers and the powerball) stand at 134,490,400:1, with the chance of snaring the ninth division (two numbers and the powerball) stanidng at 66:1.
