The 2022 Sandown Guineas is a Group Two 1600m event run on November 26 at Caulfield racecourse.

SA raider See You In Heaven (barrier 13) is working up to a win now third-up in the campaign after placing at stakes level last time.

The Fortune Teller (barrier 10) placed in the Carbine Club last start after running well in the Caulfield Guineas at the start prior.

Shuriken (barrier 16) won well in a weaker race at Ballarat last week, while Sandpaper (barrier 12) was a stakes winner at Caulfield two starts ago.

New York Hurricane (barrier seven) has always shown ability and did get the maiden out of the way last time, while Angry Skies (barrier nine) can bounce back now stepping up to the mile.

Sandown Guineas Winners

The Sandown Guineas has been run since 1968, and did have a two-year period where the race was run over 2100m, but is now run over the mile journey as it was originally.

In 1972, the race developed Group Two status and has been won by horses such as Taj Rossi and Durbridge back in the day.

In the modern era, the race has lost a touch of class, but nonetheless still attracts above average horses.
