Run as a key lead-up to the Golden Rose, the Run To The Rose is a race that regularly produces spring stars, with past winners often progressing to Group 1 success later in the carnival.

The 2025 edition headlines Rosehill’s Saturday program over 1200m, and at $3 with Pandabet, Raging Force has opened favourite to win the Group 2 feature.

2025 Run To The Rose Best Bet - Skyhook

Skyhook showed his turn-of-foot when saluting first-up in a slowly run Rosebud, where he ripped home with the fastest closing sectionals of the 1100m feature.

While this is a tougher assignment, the runner-up Grand Prairie franked that form with a Group 3 victory on August 3, and the colt kept ticking over with a quiet trial on September 2.

He displayed promise in his first campaign, producing an even debut, an unlucky second in the Skyline Stakes, and then atoning with a dominant Pago Pago win at his third start.

With that foundation and given he was on a quick turnaround at the end of his prep, the Golden Slipper miss shouldn’t be judged too harshly, and he still wasn’t disgraced in that Group 1.

2025 Run To The Rose Next Best Bet - Wodeton

Even with clear running, Wodeton likely wouldn’t have won the San Domenico Stakes, but he should’ve finished closer to Raging Force, who heads this market.

The Coolmore colt was checked at the 100m mark of that August 30 clash, and out of that run an extra 100m plus a slight weight swing on the favourite both shape as positives.

Connections have looked to ride him colder since a somewhat flat Todman Stakes effort, and from gate eleven he should be allowed to find his rhythm before working into the race.

With a run under his belt, a distance that suits better than some middle-distance types resuming, and solid lead-up form, Wodeton looks well placed to feature.
