In the 2023 return, the show has been hosted by Ricki-Lee Coulter and Scott Tweedie. The judges have so far included Harry Connick Jr, Kyle Sandilands, Amy Shark and Meghan Trainor. 

Auditions were initially held in cities all over Australia. If an auditionee received a yes from at least three of the four judges, hen they were given a golden ticket. This saw the person move into the top 50. In some cases, one judge went to visit a remote location, with that one judge deciding whether a contestant should be accepted or rejected. 

The current series has seen Jasey Fox and Maya Weiss eliminated first on February 27, with Harry Hayden and Sash Seabourne following on March 6.

Noora H and Angelina Curtis went on March 13, with this leaving six contestants in the competition. 

Phoebe Stewart is the current favourite to win at $2.50 with Ladbrokes, although Josh Hannan ($3.25) and Royston Sagigi-Baira ($4.50) are close behind. 

Amali Diamond ($6.00) is the last option below $10.00, with Anya Hynninen ($17.00) and Ben Sheehy ($26.00) the underdogs in the betting. 

The return of Australia Idol has seen a hugely interesting and exciting series that has done it's best to make up for the show being off our television screens for so long.
