Swiatek is playing her first tournament since the US Open and is now working with new coach Wim Fisette, while Gauff is back in form and will be hoping to overturn a nightmare H2H against the Pole.

Swiatek has won 11 of the 12 previous meetings between the pair - and incredibly, all 11 of those victories have come in straight sets, including a most-recent 6-2 6-4 victory in the French Open semi-finals.

It's been another dominant season for Swiatek, with the Pole registering a 55-7 record on the season and winning five titles - including another French Open crown.

However, Swiatek has relinquished the World No. 1 ranking to Aryna Sabalenka, mostly due to her poor form off clay and Sabalenka's recent dominant run that has seen her win 22 of her last 23 matches.

Without a title since Roland Garros in June, Swiatek took an extended break after a quarter-final exit to Jessica Pegula at the US Open.

The 23-year-old hired a new coach in Wim Fisette and returned to action in her WTA Finals opener against Barbora Krejcikova, sensationally recovering from a set and 0-4 down to prevail 4-6 7-5 6-2.

Coco Gauff Form

Gauff has registered a 49-15 record on the season, but her WTA Finals participation wasn't confirmed until the last couple of months.

The American opened her season with a title in Auckland, but struggled in the coming months, especially during the North American summer, where her US Open title defence was ended in the fourth round by Emma Navarro.

After splitting with coach Brad Gilbert, Gauff flourished during the Asian swing, winning the biggest title of her career outside the United States in Beijing, while she also made the semi-finals in Wuhan.

Gauff has won 10 of her last 11 matches heading into this contest after cruising past compatriot Jessica Pegula 6-2 6-3 in her WTA Finals opener.
