Coco Gauff vs Belinda Bencic Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Gauff hasn't won three straight matches since January

It's set to be another gruelling showdown between these two players, with both previous meetings this season going the distance. Gauff has struggled considerably since beating Bencic at the Australian Open, failing to win more than two matches in a row in her last five tournaments. The American has never advanced to the Madrid quarter-finals despite a strong clay record overall, losing in the R16 in two of the last three editions. Bencic meanwhile has been in superb form following her comeback to the tour and will be aiming to reach her third quarter-final in the Spanish capital.

Currently locked at 2-2. Gauff prevailed in three sets in the fourth round of the 2025 Australian Open before Bencic returned serve with a three-set victory at Indian Wells a couple of months ago.

Gauff comes into this contest with a 16-6 record for the season, but hasn't been anywhere near her best for the majority of it.

After finishing the 2024 season in strong fashion with the WTA Finals silverware, Gauff started 2025 in encouraging fashion by leading the USA to the United Cup title before making the Australian Open quarter-finals.

However, Gauff hasn't won three matches in a row since departing Melbourne Park.

The American launched her clay swing with a quarter-final defeat to Jasmine Paolini in Stuttgart before arriving in Madrid, where she lost the opening set of her first match 0-6 to Dayana Yastremska. Gauff bounced back to win that match, but she was again unconvincing in a 6-2 6-3 victory over Ann Li in the third round, committing 23 unforced errors to just 10 winners.

Bencic heads into this showdown with an impressive 21-7 record on the season, which is amongst the best on tour, with the Swiss currently 13th in the WTA Race.

It's been a remarkable comeback for Bencic, who has already improved her ranking from outside the top 900 at the end of 2024 to a current mark of No. 42.

Her highlights for the season include winning the Abu Dhabi title, along with reaching the quarter-finals of Indian Wells and the fourth round of the Australian Open.

Bencic defeated Zeynep Sonmez and Clara Tauson in straight sets to open her Madrid campaign before edging out Beatriz Haddad Maia in a deciding set tiebreak in the third round, coming back from 1-4 down in the third.
