Formerly known as the Fed Cup, the Billie Jean King Cup is one of the most prestigious competitions in the WTA. The competition brings together the top tennis players on the women's side of the game to partake in a team-based tournament for their country.

The competition is the equivalent of the men's Davis Cup competition. Day one took place on April 12, with Day two taking place on April 13.

As seven-time champions, Australia arrive with some real pedigree, but their last triumph came back in 1974.

The winner of the clash between Australia and Mexico will join defending champions Canada along with Italy, Czech Republic and Spain in the Finals. The Finals will be played in November, with 12 teams battling for glory.

The loser of this tie will move into the 2024 playoffs, which will be held in the same week as the finals.
