Wimbledon 2023 did not disappoint, with the best in the world of men's tennis descending on SW19 to battle for the most coveted trophy in the game.

Carlos Alcaraz came out on top in 2023 as he downed Novak Djokovic, and he is the favourite to defend his title in 2024 at $1.67 with bookmaker bet365

With Wimbledon 2024 now at the showpiece event, reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz is the favourite to defend his crown at $1.67 with bet365. Beaten finalist Novak Djokovic is $2.30, while former-favourite Jannik Sinner was eliminated in the Round of 16 by Daniil Medvedev.

These odds came as Alcaraz and Djokovic secured their places in the final. Alcaraz came through an enthralling clash with Daniil Medvedev as he beat his opponent 3-1. Meanwhile Djokovic hammered Lorenzo Musetti 3-0 to move into the final.

Clearly, the bookmakers have always seen Alcaraz and Djokovic as the major players to back, with some real distance between the pair and the rest. The odds have shifted massively as the tournament has gone on, with Jannik Sinner and the rest of the field all falling to the wayside.

After two weeks of intense battling in 2023, it came down to number one seed Alcaraz and number two seed Djokovic. In a final for the ages, it was Alcaraz that triumphed as he secured a stunning 1-6 7-6 6-1 3-6 6-4 win to down Djokovic and see him lose a Grand Slam match for the first time in 2023.

The defeat is one that some feel was the passing of the baton, but Djokovic will have other ideas. The Serb was excellent in the match and just came up against a player in fine form. Perhaps on another day, Djokovic would have come out on top.

For Alcaraz, this could be the start of something truly special as he looks to build on the win. Another victory in 2024 would only add to his growing legacy, although he has painted a target on his back ahead of the competition, with every other player on the circuit desperate to be the person that knocks him out of the tournament.

Alcaraz now has the chance to defend his crown, while Djokovic can avenge his defeat in the final in 2023 when he takes to the court this year.

Can Alcaraz do it all over again in 2024, or will another player secure the trophy at Wimbledon?
