The French Open is the second Grand Slam in the tennis calendar, with the tournament due to start on Sunday, May 22nd, before ending on Sunday, June 5th.
The competition sees the best of the best come together to battle it out for supremacy on the only clay-court Grand Slam on the circuit.
On the men's side of the draw, Rafael Nadal is the favourite at $2.10 with bet365. Nadal has been a goliath on the tennis circuit for years, but nowhere is he more powerful than on the clay courts at Roland Garros.
Between 2005-2020, Nadal has lifted the French Open trophy 13 times, with there only being three other winners in this time.
Last year, Novak Djokovic, who is the second favourite at $3.25, defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final to break a four-year winning-run for the Spaniard, but he will have to be at his very best to stop Nadal from winning again this year.
Just behind the pair in the betting are Tsitsipas ($6.00), Dominic Thiem ($10.00), Carlos Alcaraz ($13.00) and Alexander Zverev ($17.00).
On the Women's side of the draw, the winner is far harder to call. Iga Swiatek and Ashleigh Barty are joint favourites at $5.50. Polish star Swiatek won the crown back in 2020, but Barbora Krejcikova ($13.00) is the current champion and is fourth-favourite with bet365.
Simona Halep is seen as another likely winner at $9.00, with Naomi Osaka and Emma Raducanu both $15.00.
While Nadal and Djokovic are seen as the big favourites on the men's side, the women's side is tough to call, and this means there is good value if you wager on the winner of the women's French Open.
If you do decide to wager on the competition, you should try to study the form before the tournament has started. As players start to fall, the odds of the favourites winning will shorten.
This means that backing Nadal or Barty before the competition may not offer a huge amount of value, but it will offer more of a potential return than if you back them at the quarter-final stage, for example.
