Women's Australian Open 2021 Betting Tips

It was a shock result on the women's side of the Australian Open in 2020 with American Sofia Kenin breaking through for her maiden grand slam.

It was a disappointing conclusion to the tournament for Australian Ash Barty, who was taken out by the eventual champion in the semifinals. Can she go one better and make it to the Australian Open final in 2021?

Women's Australian Open 2021 Best Bet - Ash Barty

It looked like Aussie Ash Barty would break through for that elusive home grand slam in 2020 before she was taken out in the semifinal by the eventual champion Sofia Kenin.

Up until that point Barty looked to be cruising through to the final but an outstanding match by Kenin cost the world number 1 at the penultimate hurdle.

We think Barty's off-day in the semis was an abberation and she has the capability to take out 2021 Australian Open final.

Women's Australian Open 2021 Value Bet - Sofia Kenin

It is rare that a title winner isn't automatically installed as the favourite heading into the next tournament but Sofia Kenin's Australian Open win in 2020 wasn't enough to see her moved into single figures for next year's slam.

We're not sure why given she faced every challenge head on, including taking out the world number 1 Ash Barty and two-time grand slam champion Garbine Muguruza in the final.

We're not sure what else she can do, so at the current price she represents great value to successfully defend her title.

Verdict

Ash Barty will have 12 months to reflect on what went wrong at the 2020 Australian Open and come back with a renewed confidence to claim her maiden slam down under.

Sofia Kenin looks well over the odds to defend her crown so we're keeping her as a saver.
