Novak Djokovic vs Jeremy Chardy Tips
The most successful men’s Australian Open player in history, Djokovic has won eight titles in Melbourne and has not lost in the first round there since 2007.
Djokovic looks in great form after ATP Cup wins over tough opponents and should preserve his perfect record against Chardy on Monday.
- Djokovic has won all 30 sets he has played against Chardy
- The world no. 1 has a 75-8 record at the Australian Open
- Chardy has made the semifinals of both tournaments he’s played in 2021
- Powerful Chardy is 12-62 vs top-10 players but 0-13 vs Djokovic
Head to Head
The head-to-head between Novak Djokovic and Jeremy Chardy is 13-0.
Djokovic and Chardy played for the first time at the Australian Open in 2009, and most recently at the Madrid Masters in 2019. Djokovic has won all 13 matches in straight sets and has only been pushed to a tie-break twice.

Novak Djokovic Form
Eight-time champion Djokovic was always going to be the favourite for the Australian Open and is looking to win three in a row at Melbourne Park for the second time in 2021.
The world no. 1 has looked very good at the ATP Cup this past week, scoring hard-fought singles victories over Denis Shapovalov 7-5, 7-5 and Alexander Zverev 6-7(3), 6-2, 7-5.
Djokovic wasn’t quite able to keep Serbia’s ATP Cup title defence alive, losing the doubles with Nikola Cacic in a very close match tie-break to Zverev and Jan-Lennard Struff.
Even though Djokovic would probably have liked to get more matches in ahead of the Australian Open, two singles matches against two high-calibre opponents and two doubles matches (he also played with Filip Krajinovic against Canada) have probably put him in good frame.
Jeremy Chardy Stats
Nationality: France
Age: 33 (12 February 1987)
Height: 6’2” (188cm)
Plays: Right-Handed
World Ranking: 66
Career High: 25 (January 2013)

Jeremy Chardy Form
A power player with a big serve, Chardy has posed problems for top players before, with the likes of Andy Murray, Juan Martin del Potro and (famously) Roger Federer among the top-10 players he’s beaten.
Most recently, he knocked Daniil Medvedev out of the 2019 Paris Masters.
Chardy also comes into the Australian Open on decent form, having reached the semifinals of both ATP Tour events he’s played so far in 2021 with wins over the likes of Fabio Fognini, Marin Cilic, Jan-Lennard Struff and Taylor Fritz.
The Frenchman made his solitary Grand Slam quarterfinal at the Australian Open in 2013. But an 0-13 head-to-head against Djokovic, in which time he’s failed to get a single set, is damning.
