Ashleigh Barty vs Jessica Pegula Tips

Ashleigh Barty has been foot perfect through the first week in Melbourne and I'm not expecting her charge to come to an end in the quarter-finals either.

Jessica Pegula Form

Jessica Pegula ended 2021 with a quarter-final run at Indian Wells where she lost to Victoria Azarenka.

The 27-year-old started this year in poor fashion, knocked out in the first round in Melbourne and Sydney in straight sets to Irina Camelia Begu and Caroline Garcia, both outside the Top 50.

Pegula has had an easy run at the Australian Open. She beat World No. 49 Anhelina Kalinina 4-6 7-6 7-5 in the first round, saving 10/14 break points.

The American did it easier to reach the fourth round, beating Bernarda Pera 6-4 6-4 and Nuria Parrizas Diaz 7-6 6-2, both players outside the Top 60.

In the fourth round, Pegula produced her best performance of the tournament as she defeated World No. 8 and Australian Open fifth seed Maria Sakkari 7-6 6-3 to book her spot in the last eight.
