The 2025 Women's Australian Open will begin on January 12, with the world's top players all battling it out to reign supreme in Melbourne and secure the first Grand Slam of the year.

Two-time defending champion Aryna Sabalenka returns in an aim to make it three victories on the bounce in Melbourne - and it's hard to argue against her $3.10 favouritism with online bookmaker EliteBet when you consider her 27-1 record in Australia since the start of 2023.
However, there's several other players who will fancy themselves of upstaging Sabalenka and going all the way in Melbourne.
Coco Gauff has recaptured her best tennis after a difficult 2024 and the American looks ready to add to her US Open title, while Iga Swiatek can never be counted out - although the Pole doesn't have a good record at the Australian Open.
Elena Rybakina is a proven Grand Slam champion and can beat anyone on her day, while Olympic Gold Medalist Qinwen Zheng will be hoping to go one step further in 2025 after falling to Sabalenka in her maiden major final 12 months ago in Melbourne.
Karolina Muchova has re-emerged as one of the most dangerous threats in any draw she enters, while Jessica Pegula is always thereabouts and is coming off a run to her maiden Grand Slam final at the US Open last year, where it took Sabalenka to stop her.
You can check out the odds (courtesy of EliteBet) for who will win the 2025 Women's Australian Open title in the table below.
2025 Women's Australian Open Winner | Odds |
---|---|
Aryna Sabalenka | $3.10 |
Coco Gauff [BEST BET] 🔥 | $5.00 |
Iga Swiatek | $5.50 |
Elena Rybakina | $9.50 |
Qinwen Zheng | $14 |
Karolina Muchova | $21 |
Rest of the field | $26 or more |
As mentioned, it's hard to go against Sabalenka, but Gauff for me looks the best value out of the leading contenders at $5.00.
Gauff found her best tennis again towards the end of last season and comes into the Australian Open having won 16 of her last 18 matches, including taking out the WTA Finals title at the end of 2024, while she also led USA to United Cup glory to launch 2025, toppling Swiatek in straight sets in the final.
Importantly, Gauff also defeated Sabalenka on her way to the WTA Finals championship, where she also conquered Zheng in the final. The American also beat Sabalenka on her way to the 2023 US Open title, so she's gotten her number deep in Grand Slams before.
Swiatek has only been beyond the fourth round of the Australian Open once before and she doesn't look her best right now, while Rybakina is embroiled in a controversial situation with her former coach and doesn't appear to be in the right mental space to win seven matches over the next fortnight.
Zheng and Muchova are both decent value as outsiders and will prove extremely tough to beat, but Gauff is the form player in the draw heading into the tournament and if she maintains her current level, I like the American to go all the way.
