The 2025 Australian Open will be the first Grand Slam of the new year, and it will see the best players on the men's circuit descending on Melbourne Park, looking to start the year with a major triumph.

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner returns in a bid to defend the title he won in 2024, which served as his first Grand Slam triumph, while record 10-time champion Novak Djokovic continues his pursuit of a 25th major crown.
Carlos Alcaraz, winner of Roland Garros and Wimbledon, is sure to be in the mix as he chases a Career Slam at the age of just 21, while Alexander Zverev looks good value as the German targets a maiden Grand Slam title in Melbourne.
Three-time Australian Open runner-up Daniil Medvedev can never be ruled out on the hardcourts of Melbourne Park, while home hopes will be led by Alex de Minaur, while the likes of Alexei Popyrin and Jordan Thompson are also seeded. Nick Kyrgios also returns to compete at the Australian Open for the first time since 2022.
You can check out the latest odds (courtesy of Picklebet) for who will win the 2025 Australian Open title in the table below.
2025 Australian Open Winner | Odds |
---|---|
Jannik Sinner | $2.10 |
Carlos Alcaraz | $4.20 |
Novak Djokovic | $5.40 |
Alexander Zverev [BEST BET] 🔥 | $10.50 |
Daniil Medvedev | $14 |
Taylor Fritz | $26 |
Alex de Minaur | $46 |
Rest of the field | $46 or more |
From the main contenders, Zverev looks the best value at $10.50. The German has gotten close to breaking through at a major at various stages throughout his career and looks primed to take the next step sooner rather than later.
Sinner has a good draw, but he's got the fresh threat of a long suspension for failing two doping tests hanging over his head and it's unclear how that will affect his title defence. It's certainly an unnecessary distraction if nothing else. Alcaraz has never really produced his best tennis at the Australian Open so far in his career and he hasn't played a warm-up event, while Djokovic's level has regressed over the last year - save for his heroic Olympic performance.
Medvedev's form dropped off significantly towards the end of 2024 (he didn't win a title throughout the entire season), while he also hasn't featured in any warm-up events. Fritz for me probably isn't quite ready and de Minaur would likely have to go through Sinner in the quarter-finals (a player he has 0-8 record against, losing the last 15 consecutive sets).
If ever there was a time for Zverev to step up and take his chance to secure a maiden Grand Slam title, it's right here, right now at the 2025 Australian Open.
