Griekspoor often lifts his level for his home tournament, but I can't ignore his terrible record against top 20 players. Indeed, the Dutchman has gone 3-18 in his last 21 matches vs top 20 opponents, so at almost even money, Tsitsipas is the play here. Admittedly, the Greek isn't in great form, but he seems motivated for a big week in Rotterdam and he did defeat Griekspoor in straight sets in their only previous encounter two years ago. I don't think this match will be as convincing, but Tsitsipas holds the edge for me.

Griekspoor frequently ran into top 20 players early in tournaments for the bulk of 2024 and he rarely overcame them, posting a 3-17 record.

The Dutchman's poor record against top 20 rivals has continued into the early stages of 2025, losing to Hubert Hurkacz in the opening round of the Australian Open.

Griekspoor did build some momentum last week to reach the Montpellier quarter-finals, but he would have been disappointed with a defeat against lower-ranked countryman Jesper de Jong.

The 28-year-old has reached the semi-finals in Rotterdam the previous two seasons and won a close opening round to begin his 2025 campaign against Matteo Berrettini, prevailing in a final set tiebreak.
