Dimitrov, who finished runner-up at this tournament 12 months ago, needs to at least make the final and then go deep in an ATP 250 next week to bolster his ATP Finals chances, while Khachanov - a former champion at this tournament - is playing his best tennis of the season, winning 11 of his last 12 matches.

Dimitrov has been dominant in this H2H over the years, winning all four previous meetings - however, two have gone to a deciding set and three have featured a tiebreak, including their most-recent clash, which the Bulgarian won 6-7 6-4 7-6 indoors in Marseille earlier in 2024.

Dimitrov has registered a 46-17 record on the season, highlighted by winning the Brisbane International in January, while he's maintained his spot inside the top 10 since April.

However, the Bulgarian has some work to do in order to qualify for the season-ending championships due to the work of Alex de Minaur, who is currently in the eighth and final spot and also in the Paris Masters quarter-finals.

Dimitrov made the final of Stockholm to boost his chances, but he couldn't back it up in Vienna, losing in the second round to Tomas Machac.

Needing a run to at least the final now, Dimitrov has battled his way into the last eight, overcoming Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Arthur Rinderknech in gruelling three-set encounters.

Khachanov has put together a 36-21 record on the season, but his middle part of the year was interrupted by injury issues.

Those injury woes are well and truly behind him now though, with Khachanov going on a huge run this indoor swing, winning 11 of his last 12 matches heading into this contest.

Khachanov started by winning the Almaty title and backed it up with a quick turnaround in Vienna, reaching the final before falling to Jack Draper.

The Russian has continued his momentum this week in Paris, where he won the biggest title of his career in 2018. Khachanov overcame Chris O'Connell and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in three sets before toppling Alexei Popyrin in straights to reach the quarter-finals.

Khachanov hasn't beaten Dimitrov in four previous attempts, but I'm backing the Russian to snap that sequence in Paris.

Dimitrov hasn't looked at the top of his game, barely surviving Etcheverry and Rinderknech, while Khachanov thrives in indoor conditions - and has won 11 of his last 12 matches in this setting.
