Alexander Zverev was beaten in game two by Daniil Medvedev, meaning he needs a big performance in this one if he is to get out of the group.

Head To Head

The two have met eight times, with Zverev leading their head to head 5-3. However, Rublev has won the last three meetings between the pair, with all these victories coming in 2023.

Andrey Rublev Form

Andrey Rublev has struggled to find his form at the ATP Tour, with the 26-year-old tasting defeat in two sets in both of his opening matches.

A 6-4 6-2 loss to Daniil Medvedev was quickly followed by a 7-5 6-2 loss to Carlos Alcaraz, meaning Rublev currently props up the Green Group, with his hopes of excelling in the end-of-year event over before they began.

Now, with a shot at an opponent that was beaten in his last outing, Rublev will target finishing the competition on a high.

Alexander Zverev Form

Alexander Zverev began his ATP Tour Finals with a stunning 6-7 6-3 6-4 win over Carlos Alcaraz to give his knockout stage hopes a shot in the arm.

However, he was swatted aside in a 7-6 6-4 defeat to Daniil Medvedev which means Zverev could get knocked out if he is to lose. Victory here is well within Zverev's grasp, but he needs to ensure he does not fall foul of Rublev looking to leave the tournament on a high.

With five wins in eight matches against Rublev, Zverev will feel he has every chance of securing a big win in this one.

Verdict

I am backing Zverev to win this one but to drop a set as he looks to ensure he does not exit the Tour Finals at the group stage.
