It's been another strong start to the season for de Minaur and I'm backing him to repeat his Australian Open triumph over Cerundolo here. De Minaur simply does everything that little bit better than Cerundolo - the Argentine doesn't have the weapons or firepower to bully the Aussie around the court, so it should be another job of Demon outlasting his opponent and gradually grinding them into submission.

De Minaur's last nine victories at ATP level have come in straight sets, while he also covered a -3.5 games line in his aforementioned victory over Cerundolo at the Australian Open in January. De Minaur hasn't dropped more than four games in a set in his previous two matches this tournament and I'm expecting another relatively routine win for the World No. 10.

This will be just the second career meeting between the pair. De Minaur was well below his best on a scorching Melbourne day in their Australian Open third round clash earlier this year, eventually prevailing 5-7 7-6 6-3 6-3.

De Minaur comes into this match with a 15-4 record on the season, mostly losing to players ranked above him or eventual champions.

Indeed, de Minaur reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open (lost to Jannik Sinner), the final of Rotterdam (lost to Carlos Alcaraz) and the quarter-finals of Doha (lost to eventual winner Andrey Rublev).

The Aussie's only real blemish on the season was an opening round exit to veteran Marin Cilic in Dubai, but he's bounced back strongly so far at Indian Wells.

De Minaur has breezed into the R16 for the fourth time at the BNP Paribas Open, crushing David Goffin 6-2 6-2 before dropping a bagel on Hubert Hurkacz in an extremely impressive 6-4 6-0 triumph.

Cerundolo has compiled a solid 12-5 record so far in 2025, unsurprisingly opting to play the Golden Swing in South America on clay throughout February.

After reaching the third round of the Australian Open, Cerundolo finished runner-up to Joao Fonseca in Buenos Aires before making the quarter-finals of Rio and semi-finals at Santiago.

Having previously never won back-to-back matches at Indian Wells in his career, Cerundolo has broken new ground in the Californian desert this tournament, edging out Mackenzie McDonald in three sets before taking out giant-killing Botic Van De Zandschulp in straights.
