De Minaur has surged into his eighth consecutive quarter-final and I'm backing the Aussie to continue his run into the Doha semis here. Rublev's overall level has dropped over the last couple of years and he's certainly not at his best right now. De Minaur on the other hand is playing the best and most consistent tennis of his career - and it's taken Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner to stop him in his tracks at all of his tournaments so far in 2025. I'm backing the Demon to cover a -2.5 games line in victory and there's value in a three-set victory too, with five of the six tour-level meetings between the pair decided in a final set.
Head To Head
Currently locked at 3-3 (if you don't count the Next Gen ATP Finals). De Minaur prevailed 7-6 4-6 6-3 at Rotterdam 2024 in the last meeting, avenging a five-set loss to Rublev at the Australian Open the previous month.
Alex de Minaur Form
De Minaur's steady improvement continues to shine through on tour, with the Aussie reaching an astounding eighth straight quarter-final on tour in Doha this week.
That's remarkable consistency from de Minaur - especially when you consider his hip injury at the end of 2024, where he also made the last eight of the US Open.
The 25-year-old has won 13 of his 15 matches this season, making the quarter-finals of the Australian Open (lost to Sinner) and the final of Rotterdam (lost in three sets to Alcaraz).
De Minaur has once again gone about his business this week in Doha, easing past Roman Safiullin 6-1 7-5 before a hard-fought 6-4 6-4 victory (that took two hours) over Botic Van De Zandschulp.
Andrey Rublev Form
Rublev's form has dipped considerably and the Russian will be in danger of dropping outside the top 10 when his Madrid Masters champion points come off in a couple of months if he doesn't improve quickly.
It's not been a good start for Rublev in 2025 - he was knocked out in the opening round of Hong Kong by Fabian Marozsan to start the season, while he was the victim of Joao Fonseca's swashbuckling first round performance at the Australian Open.
Rublev made the semi-finals of Montpellier and quarter-finals of Rotterdam, but he wasn't impressive in defeats to Aleksandar Kovacevic and Hubert Hurkacz respectively.
A former champion in Doha, Rublev has returned to the quarter-finals with straight set wins over Nuno Borges and Alexander Bublik.

Verdict
De Minaur has raised his level to a point where he can beat basically anyone on tour - expect Sinner and Alcaraz.
Meanwhile, Rublev's level has declined over the last couple of years and he's certainly not been performing anywhere near his best lately. Five of the six previous meetings have been decided in a final set, so this should be close, but Demon's confidence could prove the difference.
