Randwick Trials - Sunlight headlined a card full of stars
Spring Stars are getting closer to a return after competing at the trials at Randwick this morning.
Sunlight returned to the trial track on Monday morning
Can Sunlight Climb For Everest Glory?
Sunlight was the headline act of the morning in trial three. She settled up on the speed and looked powerful through the line to overcome leader Alassio and holding off Mizzy coming down the outside.
She did not go out to work hard, just simply to work through her gears and blow out the cobwebs. She will have a much more serious trial in late August before she runs in her first up assignment, the Concorde Stakes, before tacking the almighty Everest.
Libertini Princess Bound
Star filly Libertini took out trial two, knuckling down late under no riding to beat Bleu Roche.
She travelled well in behind the speed before peeling out around the home bend, working home well. This is her second trial for the campaign so we are likely to see her resume in the next fortnight.
She looks to have grown in stature, and after speaking to trainer Anthony Cummings, she will be aimed at the Princess series in Sydney.
This means the Silver Shadow Stakes will be her likely first-up target.
Happy Clapper To Line Up In Old Nemisis' Race
Grey Beard Happy Clapper returned for his second trial of his campaign. He was under light riding approaching the turn, but worked home well late to finish around one and a half lengths off of trial winner Baller.
He will be set for a first up task in the Group One Winx Stakes named after his long time rival.
The race is set to be a belter with Godolphin star Avilius also ready to line up in the event.
