Jockey Tom Sadler will have surgery after suffering a broken leg in a jumps race at Casterton on Sunday.
Sadler rode Kuridala in the messy event where six of the 10 horses fell or failed to finish. The popular hoop suffered a fractured tibia and was scheduled for surgery in Melbourne on Monday.
Sadler was in good spirits about the incident and is thankful for all the well wishes he has received.
"Unfortunately yday day I broke my leg from the hoof of a fallen horse. Thanks to all for texts and calls, heading to Epworth soon for surgery. Trying to explain how I broke my leg without having a fall is as painful as the break, see ya next season" Sadler said on Twitter Monday morning.
