Liverpool Injury News: Reds keeper could miss six weeks
After hobbling off during his side's 4-1 win over Norwich, superstar goalkeeper Alisson Becker could miss over a month of football.
Alisson Becker could miss over a month of football after sustaining a calf injury
Liverpool could be without goalkeeper Allison Becker for the next six weeks after he picked up a calf injury against Norwich on Saturday.
Allison limped off the field at the 39th minute of the match after slipping over following a goal kick gone wrong. The 26-year-old immediately grabbed his calf following the incident.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said in his post-match press conference that Alisson "couldn't carry on".
"It's the calf and that's it," the manager said.
"He couldn't carry on, that's not a good sign, and we have to see. Wednesday he will not play. With all my experience I can say that already."
While there would have been some optimism the injury was on the minor scale, Liverpool's fears were confirmed on Monday after The Athletic UK's Reds reporter James Pearce reported that the team is "expecting to be without Alisson Becker for between 4 and 8 weeks depending on how quickly he heals."
Liverpool's recent signing of former West Ham keeper Adrián San Miguel del Castillo will mitigate the loss of Alisson while the Champions League winning stopper makes his recovery.
Liverpool's next match is an away fixture against Southampton at St Mary's Stadium.
