Brownlow Medal Update - Final round blitz puts Dangerfield in rare air
Justin Darcy has given his final Brownlow medal betting tips for the season after what was a huge last round of footy.
It was a battle between Patrick Dangerfield and Patrick Cripps at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday.
What a way to finish off the home and away season with the last Brownlow votes being polled.
Let's start off with a bit of Geelong magic - Patrick Dangerfield of course we are talking about.
34-disposals, four goals and six tackles assures him the three votes in their big win over Carlton.
The little master in Gary Ablett was back to his best with 28 disposals and three goals while Carlton's Patrick Cripps was as honourable as ever with 35 disposals, eight tackles and a goal.
Those three look set to take the votes in this order.
Not even Nat Fyfe could pull back the margin of Port Adelaide's flogging of Fremantle in a one-sided affair. Nat Fyfe was very good and may poll a vote if the umpires look on individual performance rather than counting in the team aspect as well. I would say Dangerfield will have caught Fyfe in the Brownlow by this last round, which the betting markets support.
Lachie Neale, Lachie Neale, Lachie Neale. What more can you say about a man who accumulated 51-disposals and six tackles in a huge effort to try and push his Lions over the line against the Tigers. The Tigers ran away late as 27-point winners, but Neale is still highly likely to poll considering his individual effort in this game.
Dangerfield has stormed into $2.50 Brownlow favourite while Nat Fyfe ($4.00) and Lachie Neale ($6.00) and second and third in the betting.
I'm prepared to stick fat with Dangerfield after taking the $6 a fortnight ago.
